I'm looking forward to this year’s Warracknabeal A&P Society Show.
The grounds are looking good as our members, with help from Yarriambiack Shire, have mowed, raked, painted and repaired.
Thanks also to the shire, we've recieved funding to host a number of new attractions including Level Up Gaming, which will bring virtual reality and retro games to the show, along with funding from West Wind Energy Park which has allowed us to host Young Expressions, Hoopsparx and Balloonatic Bruce.
I plan to get creative and make some Lego models to enter in the competition, and will definitely be having a go on the header simulator which will give showgoers the chance to experience driving and loading a header enclosed in a real header cabin.
We're trying some other new things this year, including a farmers' market, so make sure you check those stalls out, and there will be plenty to keep the kids entertained, including the library van which will have outdoor toys available, a giant sandpit and Riley's Lolly Shop.
Greater Western Barbecue's Barbecue Shack will be popular and, thanks to St Mary's Cricket Club, both bars will be open so you can enjoy a drink or two with what's sure to be incredibly delicious barbecued food.
Along with the new attractions we'll have all the traditional show stuff, including the animal nursery, showbags, competitions and a shearing display.
We are hoping to attract some more vehicles into the grand parade - everyone is welcome to bring along their vintage cars, with entry off Dungey Street for entrants.
Stacey will be bringing her mini along, we will be welcoming a visit from the Horsham Car Club, and the Warracknabeal Car Club has been invited to bring its vehicles along for the parade.
And, as we all know, the show wouldn't be possible without the hard work of the committee and volunteers so we are on the lookout for more people interested in joining the show committee and for more volunteers to help out on the day.
This is my fourth year as president and, with the first two cancelled due to Covid and the last one washed out, I'm crossing my fingers that there won't be four bad years in a row.
Although there's rain expected the day before to make our farmers happy, show day is forecast to be fine.
