Horsham's next generation of footballers learned the ins and outs from one of their own when the Western Bulldogs held a super clinic at City Oval on Tuesday, December 10.

Former Horsham Saint and 2023 AFL draftee Joel Freijah was joined by Adam Treloar, Dom Brew and Josh Dolan at the come-and-try session featuring 90 five to 12-year-olds.

Freijah was thrilled to get back to his hometown.

"It's great to come down and do these sort of things," he said.

"And for the eight of us [players] all together getting down to Horsham."

The 19-year-old believed it was important to give back to the community, particularly those in regional areas.

"I remember as a kid being that sort of age, and really looking up to AFL players coming down," Freijah said.

"Obviously being in the country and being a long way away from everything, to have the opportunity for people that you look up to and aspire to, to come down is huge.

"It's good to give back to the place where I started."

Freijah remembers a visit from Essendon when he was younger, before a 2017 visit from the Bulldogs included Mitch Wallis and his now senior coach Luke Beveridge.

"I was a pretty young tacker then, but I still remember it vividly."

Players will visit multiple schools in Horsham and Stawell on Wednesday, December 11 before returning to Melbourne.
