Youngsters shine at Blue Ribbon
A big night of racing was held as part of Blue Ribbon Raceway's Robin Thomas Memorial last Saturday.
The drivers of the future were on track in both New and Top Stars, entertaining the crowd with brilliant racing.
In the New Stars, Charlie Fallon was fast early on, claiming his first couple of heat races.
In both Heat One and Two, Chase Davey finished second and Jai Hallet third.
Davey levelled up in Heat Three and claimed the chequered flag ahead of Hallet, with Fallon finishing third.
Hallet saved his best race until the final, finishing a second in front of Oscar Conder, with Davey rounding out the podium.
The more seasoned Top Stars were also on track, competing across four heat races.
The AX18 of Blake Beach claimed the opening race, ahead of the P5 of Flynn Annett and the AX88 of Maddy Beach.
The AV33 of James Peacock crossed the line first in the following heat, followed by the AX8 of Steane Goverdik Cosson and the AX88 of Beach.
Proving how competitive the class is, Goverdik Cosson claimed the chequered flag in Heat Three, ahead of Peacock and Blake Beach.
The fourth heat race saw a different driver take the win again, and this time it was the AX68 of Jaylen Knight that set the standard, ahead of the MDA12 of Ryan Burns and the AV33 of Peacock.
All eyes were on the feature to see which driver would prevail, and it was Goverdik Cosson who came home with the win, ahead of Peacock and Annett.
Compact Speedcars were also in action on Saturday, with Aston Rodriguez claiming the feature win, ahead of Matt Pata and Trevor Perry.
Dane Court reigned supreme in the Super Rods, getting the win in the final ahead of Tommy Duynhoven, with Adrian Rieck rounding out the podium.
Five drivers competed in the Production Sedans class, with the HO11 of Peter Dowling comfortably crossing the line first in the final race.
He finished ahead of the HA41 of Greg Hutchins and the HA75 of Mark Riley.
Finally, a field of seven raced V8 Trucks on Saturday, across three heat races and a final.
Luke James claimed all three heat races, but the drivers who finished on the podium varied slightly.
Dean Thomas and Cody Bell finished second and third, respectively, in the first heat, while Leigh Bell and Cody Bell rounded out the podium in both following heats.
Making it four wins from four races, the HO57 of James crossed the line first in the feature, ahead of Cody Bell and Thomas.
Nominations are now open for the King's Birthday Carnival of Speedway, to be held at Blue Ribbon on June 6 and 7.
With the Mick Fitzgerald Memorial Points Aggregate to be decided, the event is shaping up as one not to be missed.
Classes competing include Wingless Sprints, Street Stocks, Modified Sedans and Junior Sedans.
The Lightning Sprints Victorian Title will also be staged.
