The seven dwarves were there as well, of course, but the highlight of my week was the smiles on the faces of the crew - in the dark backstage - as they heard primary school children in the audience reacting to the script for the first time.
Jokes diligently practised by the cast for months at rehearsals finally got the laughs they deserved.
Children in the audience energetically 'booed' the wicked queen and cheered the funny jester, they sang along with the Prince and helped catch the cheeky dwarf who had escaped into the crowd.
The colour and lights and music and magic of the theatre are such a wonderful escape from everyday cares.
For students, there is so much learning about teamwork and responsibility.
I was there when some teenagers learnt to wield a mop for the first time as the stage was prepared for opening night.
Other students experienced wearing a 'head mic' for the first time, with the power pack clipped to a belt or a bra while they tried hard to remember not to say anything out loud that they didn't want 500 people to hear as it was amplified throughout the venue.
High up in the lighting box students were busy directing spotlights and way down in the loading dock students were sorting props tables.
For me, there was a little throne mending, some stage photography, program proof reading, costume quick change assistance, foyer display design and decoration with the additional honour of judging the cleanest dressing room one afternoon.
Just for the record - it was impossible to pick one winner, as every dressing room was spotless!
I had to declare a draw between the two rooms I actually found teenagers tidying up in.
Discovering a teenager dutifully dusting and busy with the Spray and Wipe is an extremely rare occurrence and one well worth celebrating, I say.
My only teenager still at home has a ballet performance and a singing concert coming up in a couple of months.
After lockdowns she never stepped back into the wonderful world of musicals.
One less thing for me to get nervous about.
