Dignitaries and school students were among many to attend a commemorative service in Horsham College Assembly Hall for the 81st anniversary of the bombing of Darwin during the Second World War.

Horsham’s Darwin Defenders guest speaker Keith Lockwood and Member for Lowan Emma Kealy were among those to lay wreaths in honour of those who served and fell.

About 900 men from the Wimmera-Southern Mallee were stationed in Darwin.
