Wind Farm grants open
Community groups across the Hindmarsh, Horsham and Yarriambiack municipalities can now apply for the 2026 Murra Warra Wind Farm Community Grants.
Celebrating its fifth year of sharing the benefits of the energy transition with communities, the program offers base grants of up to $5000 and large grants of up to $20,000 to support a range of community-driven projects.
Funding is available across five categories: sport and recreation; culture, diversity and arts; sustainable environment; social health and wellbeing; and education and training.
Squadron Energy Murra Warra Site operations manager Christopher Gulvin said the grants provide volunteer associations, clubs and community groups with practical funding to help turn good local ideas into reality.
“We’re proud to support projects that build connection and resilience across the region, whether that’s boosting wellbeing through sport, the arts and cultural programs, strengthening education and training outcomes, or helping local groups protect the environment," he said.
“We especially encourage First Nations organisations and first-time applicants to put their hand up; if you have a strong idea that will benefit the community, we want to hear from you."
Wimmera Southern Mallee Development is the administrator of the Murra Warra Wind Farm Community Grants program, on behalf of Squadron Energy.
“Murra Warra Wind Farm has become an established part of the region, and this grants program is one of the practical ways local communities see benefits flowing back,” Chris Sounness, WMSD CEO said.
“Each year we see a wide range of ideas come forward from community groups, from sport and recreation through to education, environment and wellbeing initiatives.
"The strength of the program is that the ideas come from the community itself."
