Wimmera Machinery Field Days committee set to roll for March 4-6 event
It will be the 61st field days, with a long list of exhibitors.
The organising committee are busy putting the finishing touches on one of the nation's biggest agricultural field days as the Wimmera community looks to rebound after a tough summer.
The Wimmera Machinery Field Days will be held at Longerenong, north-east of Horsham over three days from March 4 to March 6.
New president of the organising committee Harry Young said he was excited about the upcoming event.
"We have a great list of exhibitors together, with numbers up, and the site is looking good," Mr Young said.
In spite of a challenging season for broadacre croppers through the Wimmera Mallee, with dry conditions impacting yields, major machinery dealerships within the region have reported ongoing strong demand.
With water use efficiency likely to be in the spotlight continuing a lengthy period of below average rainfall precision agriculture technologies that help maximise returns from rainfall and inputs are also likely to be a key point of interest for the grower community.
Vanessa Lenehan, WMFD manager, said there had been an encouraging increase in both exhibitors and corporate sponsors, highlighting the ongoing support for the event.
She said after a tough summer, with fire ravaging much of the region including the Grampians / Gariwerd and the Little Desert that visitors were encouraged to support the tourism operators exhibiting along with the small businesses participating in Wednesday's local market event.
