Warracknabeal’s own basketball star Chloe Bibby returned home last week to visit family and friends, and took time out from her busy schedule to mentor and coach local kids about life and sports.
At just 25 years old, the 1.85m forward has made a name for herself on both the national and the international basketball stage.
Bibby said she was touched by the outpouring of support from local kids, who wrote letters to her at the May 2023 Asia Cup - the first time she represented Australia with the Opals.
Bibby visited Warrackanabeal Primary School last Thursday to thank the students for their support and offer some words of wisdom, before heading down to the local stadium and coaching the young Wildcats for the afternoon.
“It has been awesome ... just to see the town, not much has changed but the people are still amazing,” she said.
“Then to come here and coach these guys today - the listened really well and they took it all in.”
Bibby shared her feelings about featuring on a mural in the stadium, and her visit.
"Just to be able to give back to the community, just a little, I know its not much but to be able to see everybody, and see the mural - I feel really blessed and really happy to be back."
Bibby is now gearing up for a trip to Europe to play for Poland’s InvestInTheWest Enea Gorzow in EuroCup Women 2023/2024.
