Warracknabeal Golf Bowls celebrates 50 years.

THE Warracknabeal Golf Bowls Club turned 50 years old in 2020, but due to the Covid restrictions at the time, could only recently celebrate this historic event.
Past members of the Club from Mildura, Ballarat, Ocean Grove, Creswick and Horsham joined local members and partners for a morning of social bowls, followed by amagnificent lunch prepared by the Ladies Catering Committee.
The special commemorative booklet produced for the occasion was presented to all in attendance and has been posted to those that were unable to attend.
The booklet details the history of the club, from the first meeting of GolfClub members interested in forming a bowls section on May 26 1968.
It includes a complete list of all past and present members, and the many achievements of individuals and pennant teamsover the years.
Individual members recognised on the day for their special contribution included EllenClarke who was Ladies secretary for 15 years, Brian Gunn who was secretary for 12 years, and RodneyAshfield who was secretary for 11 years.
Past and present Champions of the club were also recognised including Eric and Len Kosloff, Max Woodward, Murray and Joan Anderson, Noel Kearns, Dot Haeusler andEdna Anderson.
The many successes of the Club's Pennant teams over the years were highlighted, as was the huge voluntary effort of many members in establishing the Bowling Green in thefirst place, converting to a synthetic, replacing that with another synthetic 14 years later, installing the light towers, and developing and maintaining the surrounds to a high standard.
At the conclusion of the lunch, club president Graham White thanked everyone for coming,particularly those who had travelled from far away, and said the Club was looking forward tothe next 50 years.
