Warracknabeal Bowling Club hosted the return match against Nhill on Saturday, dashing the away team's hopes of retaining the trophy after their previous win.
The first match between these two clubs, at Nhill, saw the home team win the day by six shots.
Nhill won four rinks to Warracknabeal's three, for a final score of Nhill 138, Warracknabeal 132.
The best performed team for Nhill was Barry Cramer’s team, and Warracknabeal’s was Edna Anderson’s.
With their six-shot start, Nhill were hoping to retain the trophy, but Warracknabeal on their own green proved to good
Warracknabeal ended the day with176 shots to Nhill 115, and combining the two matches sees Warracknabeal at 308 shots to Nhill 253, giving them the overall win byb 55 shots.
The best performed team for Nhill was Jeff Merrett, Phil Henseleit and Kevin Jones (s) when they defeated Simon Cousins, Debbie Treadwell and Bill Kerr 34/10.
Warracknabeal’s best team was Gaile Arnold, Ian Hewitt and Brian Taylor who defeated G. Pole, Michelle Robins and Brad Blackwood (s), 46/5.
The game between Nhill’s Darren Gebert and his team of Basil Wagg and Jan Gilbert against Warracknabeal’s Gary McLean’s team of Debra Steed and Dale Stronach was a challenge all day.
The scores were level five times, and with one end to play, Warracknabeal held a two-shot lead, but Nhill scored a three on the last end and took the honour by one shot, 18/17.
Helen Mclean, Robert Schneider and Barry Morrison (s) lost to Ken Goodwin, Buddy Witney and Jing Robertson (s), 11/28.
Laurie Robins, Colin Alexander and Barry Schultz lost to Brendon Bibby, Robyn Goodwin and Graeme Shalders 15/27.
Margaret Morrison, Terry Robins and Roger Brown lost to Neville Keam, Ken Schilling and Calvin Pendlebury 18/23.
Keith Rowe, Sean McDonald and Barry Cramer lost to John Witney, Des James and Isobel Davison 14/25.
A great afternoon of sportsmanship and friendship was had by all.
Next Saturday Warracknabeal will host another challenge match against Stawell.
