Walkers celebrate Seniors Month
The Heart Foundation's Horsham Riverside Walkers held a morning tea after their 9am walk recently to celebrate Victorian Seniors Month.

The regular Wednesday morning walking group was started by Heart Foundation volunteer walk coordinator Tony Howard after he had open heart surgery and wanted to keep up with his exercise.
He contacted the Heart Foundation to find a walking group to join in Horsham but was told there wasn't one.
"They told me if I would like to start one under the Heart Foundation, they would make me their coordinator," Mr Howard said.
"So I had to pass all the usual checks, and now I’m their official coordinator."
He received funding from Horsham Rural City Council (HRCC) to put on the morning tea for seniors.
Mr Howard said it went really well with some new faces joining the regular walkers.
"We had about 20 people show up," he said.
"Eleven of them were new walkers."
Kicking off at 9am, the 2.5km walk starts and finishes at Horsham Angling Club and takes participants along the Wimmera River.
To get involved visit www.heartfoundation.org.au/healthy-living/heart-foundation-walking or join Horsham Riverside Walkers on Facebook.
New walkers are encouraged to show up on the day at 8.45am.
Mr Howard is happy to be contacted on 0405 075 611 to have a chat and answer any questions.
"Anyone is welcome," he said.
