WAG looks back at successful year during AGM
Warracknabeal Action Group (WAG) met on October 22, for their annual general meeting (AGM) where they looked back on the last 12 months as well as looking forward to upcoming projects and events.
President Dianne Marchment presented her report which highlighted projects that WAG have been involved, such as the new amenities block in Warracknabeal Caravan Park, the Tourist Information Centre revamp and the Courthouse project.
Ms Marchment mentioned the public toilets are also about to be "re-vamped".
"There are many things happening," she said.
"Warracknabeal is a great town and is looking good and a work in progress.
"And from all you people who are here because of this town, well done. Thank you."
The Events committee report outlined the three main events, Run the Beal, the Easter Festival and Meal in the Beal, which all had great turn out and support from the community.
Deal in the Beal was also another successful shopping event, with this year's event also including market street traders.
WAG now owns the Community Garden located in Scott Street after the community rallied together to fundraise the amount of $50,000 to purchase the land from former owner Dr Jack Goldberg.
The group are now looking for more helpers to tend to the garden on a Saturday morning.
The Townscape report outlined projects such as the installation of three Warracknabeal entrance signs and the upgraded pedestrian 'Wombat Crossings'.
To further complete the upgrades, pedestrian flashing lights are set to be installed.
The committee continues to seek funding through grants and donations to create and install the three remaining entrance signs located on Rainbow Road, Minyip Road and Dimboola Road.
WAG's Christmas committee
Christmas festival president Kathryn Wilken Jackson said they are really excited for this year's event which will be held at Warracknabeal Racing Club on December 15.
The town's Christmas Windows co-ordinated by Jenny Stewart with her team proved to be a success.
"It brings a lot of a lot of enjoyment to the young and old of the town," she said.
Last year saw four windows in Scott Street decorated for the festive season including Rotary House, Warracknabeal Hotel and two vacant shops.
"I personally have to thank Sharlene, who came along and cleaned all the windows for us before we went in, which was absolutely amazing."
Office bearers for the upcoming year were also elected with many keeping their current positions.
Dianne Marchment continues her presidency position, with vice president going to Kathryn Wilken Jackson and secretary was accepted by nominee Sharlene McGinniss.
