Two venues targeted with vandalism
The Yarriambiack Shire Council expressed its deep disappointment earlier after vandalism was discovered in two locations in Warracknabeal.
The newly refurbished amenities block in Scott Street has been affected, falling victim to a theft of a stainless-steel soap dispenser and senseless damage to coat hooks.
It is believed the incident likely occurred late last week during the day, as the amenities block is open to the public during the day and closed each evening.
The Warracknabeal Caravan Park was also subject to an attempted break-in of the storage facility at the new amenities block, and the storage door sustained damage as an angle-grinder was used to cut through the door's lock.
There was also an attempted theft of a camper's bike where the offenders used an angle-grinder to unsuccessfully cut a chain securing the bike to a bike rack.
Both of the incidents occurred on Sunday, August 3, at night.
"We are extremely disappointed by the recent incidents of vandalism impacting Warracknabeal's important community assets," Yarriambiack chief executive Tammy Smith said.
Council asks that any information concerning vandalism and/or reports of suspicious activity be reported directly to Victoria Police.
