The truck driver involved in an accident in which two people died outside Murtoa has been charged by police.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 24-year-old Eaglehawk man with two counts of dangerous driving causing death.

The charges follow a collision on the Wimmera Highway, near Delahunty Road, where a truck and a car collided just before 11am.

The occupants of the car, a 76-year-old man and his 71-year-old female passenger, from South Australian, died at the scene.
