Police prepare report for coroner, death of a Arapiles climber

Emergency services were called to Mt Arapiles in Western Victoria about 3:40pm on Tuesday, November 19 after reports a climber had fallen.

Victoria Police released a statement later in the afternoon to say the climber, a woman, had died at the scene.

A police spokesperson said, "Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the death of a climber in Arapiles.

It is understood the climber fell from a cliff near Centenary Park Access Track at about 3.40pm.

The climber, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

Eight emergency service vehicles were in attendance throughout the afternoon.

This was scaled down to four later in the day.

A police helicopter could be seen hovering above Mt Arapiles several times throughout the afternoon.
