Town wins $918k for new courts

Murtoa Rec Reserve is in line for new multipurpose netball and tennis courts after it won close to $1 million in state government grants.

Yarriambiack Shire Council will spend the $918,998 funding, granted through the Victorian State Government Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Council CEO Tammy Smith praised the Murtoa community, saying the project would not have been possible without co-contributions from locals.

The Minyip-Murtoa Football and Netball Club and Murtoa Recreation Reserve Committee had raised funds to contribute towards the projects.

The Murtoa Recreation Reserve courts project includes fencing, lighting and player shelters on both sides.

It will be completed with contributions of $100,000 each from council and Murtoa Football Netball Club, as well as $30,000 from the Murtoa Recreation Reserve on top of the state government funding.
