Town hall lease locked in
Yarriambiack Shire will sign a building lease document formalising a longstanding verbal agreement with the Warracknabeal Town Hall Committee of Management.
Mayor Kylie Zanker said the committee had been operating the hall "for many years" on behalf of the shire.
However, as there was no written lease agreement in place, it was recommended that council rectify this.
Cr Karly Kirk, who works in office space rented by her employer within the hall, declared a conflict of interest in the matter and waited outside the chamber while it was being discussed.
The remaining five councillors voted unanimously to put into writing for seven years the "peppercorn" rent of $1 (plus GST) per year which was had historically been charged.
