Towering Mother’s Day event
THE next event as part of the Dimboola Fun-Fest series will be held at Tower Park and the main retail precinct on Saturday, May 9 – a special Mother’s Day event.
“Our Mother’s Day market is fast becoming an annual event, and now that we have included the extra activities along the retail strip, there is more to do than ever before,” market coordinator La Vergne Lehmann said.
“And once again, it will mostly be a free family activity.”
Along with the regular market at Tower Park, there will also be a range of activities around town, including a Mother’s Day-themed treasure hunt for families and a special Mad Hatter's morning tea for those who reach the final destination.
As an added bonus, market stalls and main street retailers are joining the fun.
The Dimboola Fun-Fest – which will continue throughout the year with other events coming up in July, September, October and November has also received Community Event funding from the Hindmarsh Shire, which will help establish the event in the main street in town this year.
A new feature at the market will be the ‘Community Corner’, where community groups can have space to promote their activities and encourage community members to get involved.
This month, Hepburn Energy and BREAZE will be on-site at the market to help people electrify their homes and save money.
The Mother’s Day treasure hunt is a free family activity that kicks off at the Forbidden Forest at 9am.
“We have been very lucky to have Kylie and Shane Harman at the Forbidden Forest put an enormous amount of time and effort into organising the treasure hunt activities,” La Vergne said.
“These things don’t happen without a good dose of effort and imagination, and they benefit all retailers in the town who get extra visitation and helps to give the town a real buzz!”
