Tourism forum coup
Dimboola is ensuring it solidifies its place in the spotlight as the region’s “place to be” by hosting the first Grampians Wimmera Mallee (GWM) Tourism industry forum this Friday, October 18.
Delegates from all over the region will arrive to network and strategise with local council representatives, industry colleagues, board members, and tourism business owners - all towards the common goal of attracting more visitors to the area.
The forum is a part of GWM Tourism's new Visitor Economy Partnership, which aims to bring industry partners and stakeholders together to create growth and promotion in local towns across the region.
Beginning at 2pm, the free event will be held at Dimboola Rowing Club located at Recreation Reserve, Lloyd Street, and is open to all interested operators and partners.
Dimboola’s own Wimmera River cruise operator Amy Ward will be taking attendees on an evening jaunt up the waterway - with drinks and nibbles provided - giving guests a unique view of the lifeblood of the Wimmera, and offering the opportunity to mingle and socialise with new friends and business partners.
The forum will feature a range of guest speakers including Hindmarsh Shire Council chief executive Monica Revell, GWM Tourism marketing manager Georgia Bennett, and GWM Tourism chief executive Marc Sleeman, who will all provide the audience with the latest updates on marketing and tourism in the area, and provide strategies for getting more visitors to visit and stay in town.
Melbourne-based freelance photographer, digital marketing and social media professional and owner of Pale Blue Dot Photography, Rob Embury, will also be speaking at the industry forum about the basics of photography and videography, and how to efficiently edit content for social media and for a target audience.
Mr Embury was recently featured in the Weekend Australian Magazine, with a self-portrait taken in the middle of Lake Tyrrell.
