Tough loss for Rainbow
The second round of North Wimmera pennant bowls delivered plenty of action and tight contests, with Warracknabeal maintaining its early dominance across both divisions, while Hopetoun, Beulah and Rupanyup also notched key wins.
In Division one, Rainbow was swept by Hopetoun 16-0 (74-60).
Debbie Lowe's side lost 27-17, while Andrew Martion's team narrowly lost 22-20; similarly, Rod McLean's four was unlucky not to win its rink, going down 25-23.
In other games, Warracknabeal Golf White prevailed over Murtoa 14-2 (72-65), while Warracknabeal Golf Blue lost to Rupanyup 16-0 (94-52).
Beulah was defeated by Warracknabeal 14-2 (74-63), but bounced back on Sunday to claim a 14-2 (77-55) victory over Murtoa in the postponed match from Round one.
Warracknabeal sits at the top of the ladder with 30 points (+60 shots), just ahead of Rupanyup (30 points +53 shots).
Rainbow (+18), Beulah (+11), Warracknabeal Golf White (–4) and Hopetoun (–35) all sit on 16 points after two rounds, while Murtoa (four points –29) and Warracknabeal Golf Blue (zero points –74) round out the ladder.
In Division two, Minyip swept Hopetoun 16-0 (107-48), Warracknabeal continued its strong run with a decisive win over Beulah 14-2 (78-52), while Murtoa lost to Brim 14-2 (73-63).
Warracknabeal sits atop the Division two Ladder with 30 points (+74 shots), with Minyip (+11) and Brim (+9) on 16 points.
Hopetoun (14 points –58 shots), Murtoa (two points –10) and Beulah (two points –26).
