Top six wide open amidst Demons dominance
Netball in the Horsham District Football Netball League sees an intriguing battle in both ends of the top six.
At the top, Laharum is the team to beat, unbeaten in eight matches two games clear of Rupanyup and Noradjuha Quantong on six wins in second and third respectively.
The top six is rounded out by Kalkee on five wins and Swifts and Edenhope Apsley on four wins.
The battle for the top two is still hotly contested with the Panthers, Bombers and Kees all fighting for that second spot.
In seventh spot, a game below is Kaniva Leeor who is still in the hunt for finals contention.
It's no coincidence that the younger teams in the competition in Harrow Balmoral, Natimuk and Pimpinio are all on one win and out of finals contention, so improvement and building for the future will be at the forefront of their minds.
Laharum's Caitlin Jones-Story is currently leading the competition with 307 goals, 43 ahead of Zanaiya Bergen (Rupanyup). Shannon Couch (Noradjuha Quantong) is 44 goals away in a distant third on 220. Lavinia Fox, 171 and Rebbekkah Seeary, 159 are having great seasons for Edenhope Apsley and Swifts respectively.
Harrow Balmoral's 18-year-old Tori Dunstan is only 17 goals away from the top five which is a fantastic achievement.
The Michelle Mibus Medal, for the league's best and fairest, should be a tight battle with the leading contenders who are having outstanding seasons.
Laharum trio Caitlin Jones-Story, Olivia Jones-Story and Ema Iredell, Noradjuha Quantong's Holly Nuske and Brooke Pay, Rupanyup's Meg Cashin and Kalkee's Jarrah Martin and Penny Fisher.
Holly Ross is the dark horse and if Pimpinio starts winning a few more games, she could catapult into contention. Also, keep an eye on Febey McLure from Harrow Balmoral who is in the same boat.
