The popularity of the traditional Warracknabeal Easter race meeting was evident again last Saturday, with a large crowd attending in a party-style atmosphere.
There was something for all attending, with the horse races, fashions, children's activities and socialising going on.
Following 18mm of rain on the days prior, the track was rated a Slow 6, only to be upgraded to a Slow 5 after the opening race.
Mornington-based galloper Toogoodfortoorak easily won the $50,000 Emmetts-John Deere Warracknabeal Cup by four-and-three-quarter lengths from the previous winner of the past two years Reserve Street, with the Paul Prevsker-trained Dothraki coming in third.
Starting a 2.30 favourite, the five year old by Toorak Toff dominated the race, leading all the way to extend the margin in the straight for a decisive victory.
Trained by the in form stable of Matt Laurie, it was the second leg of a winning double, having previously won on Moon Yanco in the Shannon Bros Handicap.
Veteren jockey Rhys McLeod also rode two winners on the day.
The next race meeting at the course is on Saturday May 20.
