Tigers chase down Renegades
Round 11 of the Horsham Cricket Association Junior Competition took place last weekend, where the Horsham Tigers under 16s produced an impressive run chase to defeat the Dunmunkle Renegades.
In other under 16s games, the Bullants and the Blackheath Dimboola Bulls also recorded victories.
At Dimboola Road Oval on Friday Night, the Renegades elected to bat, where they totalled 5/121 from 22 overs.
Hugh Weidemann led the side with 45 not out, with solid contributions from Lewis Gellatly (21) and Sid Kingston (17 not out).
Callum Jackson (1/7) and Joel Plazzer were among the wicket takers for the Tigers.
Callum Jackson then set up the win for the Tigers, retiring on 50 not out from 37 balls, before Anderson Brown (15 not out) and Isaac Hogan (11 not out) helped guide the team to 2/122 for the win in the 18th over.
At Noradjuha Recreation Reserve, the Bullants elected to bowl against and undermanned Homers, who were dismissed for 65.
Charlie Hopper top scored for the visitors with 24 runs, while Henry Walsgott and Jazz Hopper each scored 13.
Oscar Combe impressed with the ball for the Bullants with figures of 3/5, while Isaac Thomas claimed 2/3.
In response, Isaac Thomas continued his strong performance with a knock of 37 retired not out, while Milton Ellis had 15 not out as the Bullants finished 2/76 from 17 overs.
Jazz Hopper (1/2) and Peter Smith (1/6) both bowled economical overs to go along with their wickets for Homers.
At Coughlin Park, the Bulls elected to bat and amassed 6/165 against the Horsham Saints attack.
Dane Peach finished the innings with 34 not out off just 18 balls, after Edward Schorback (28), Lenny Clark (27) and Max Spokes (21) got the Bulls into a strong position.
Alan Kuriakose stood out in the Saints’ bowling effort with 3/11, while Cooper Myers had 1/24.
In reply, the Saints finished their 22 overs at 6/67.
Alan Kuriakose top scored with 18 retired not out, while Hunter Schmidt scored 13 opening the batting.
The wickets were shared among the Bulls, highlighted by Albert Schorback finishing with 1/2 as well as a runout, while Archie Ward produced 1/4.
In the under 14s, the Tigers, Renegades and Bullants all registered strong wins.
At Coughlin Park, the Saints elected to bowl against the Tigers, who scored 6/135 in 20 overs.
Arckie Mackley (22), Tex Askew (20) and Lenny Carter (20) led the Tigers with impressive retired not out innings.
For the Saints, Chaz Schmidt (1/7) and Kurt Phillips-Hay (1/11) were among the wicket takers.
In reply, the Saints finished at 9/58, led by James Mackereth (22 not out) and Max Sproule (17 not out).
Jett Skiller (3/6) and Jack Steadman (2/4) both took multiple wickets for the Tigers.
At Davis Park, West Wimmera won the toss and elected to bowl against the Renegades, who totalled 5/157.
Six players reached double figures for the Renegades, including William McCurdy (25 retired not out), Braxton Starick (21 retired not out) and Nate Talbot (20 retired not out).
Mitchell Hendy (2/9) and Jack Dodds (1/9) were the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors.
In response, West Wimmera reached 4/92, led by 30 from Clayton Hiscock and 19 retired not out from Nate Clugston.
Judd Thomson starred with the ball for the Renegades with figures of 2/0, while William McCurdy had 1/7.
At City Oval, Blackheath Dimboola elected to bat against the Bullants and reached 2/57.
Roary Hadzig and Edward Schorback led the way for the Bulls with retired not out scores of 20 and 10, respectively.
Jack Arnel (1/3) and Milton Ellis (1/6) took the wickets for the Bullants, while Zack Pickering impressed behind the stumps with a catch and a stumping.
The Bullants then reached 3/117 in their innings, led by retired not out knocks from Zack Pickering (20) and Zavier Lang (13).
For the Bulls, Archie Ward (2/12) and Dylan Walker (1/18) were the wicket takers.
