Thunder, Burras eye first win
One round into the Wimmera Football Netball League season and Minyip Murtoa and Southern Mallee Thunder are both looking for their first win.
But after this Saturday, one of them will have chalked up the points, as the sides meet for round two, and there can only be one winner.
Last week, the Burras were defeated by the Demons 12.12 (84) to 12.14 (86), while Nhill got the win over the Thunder 6.15 (51) to 6.7 (43).
Coach of Minyip Murtoa, Luke Fisher, is heading into the game on Saturday feeling confident they can deliver a good standard of play.
"We were on top for a lot of the Horsham game, but we just didn't take our chances through some sloppy errors," he admitted.
"We hope we can rectify these issues this week."
The Burras have been working on becoming stronger on the footy and cleaner with their possession.
"As mentioned previously, we gave the ball back to the opposition after having first hands on it last week," Fisher said.
The coach said there will be crucial match-ups all over the ground against Thunder this week, but if the Burras can limit the impact of their midfielders, it will go a long way toward their side claiming the points.
"The key match-ups will be the entire midfield going head to head, and if they send Kieran Delahunty back to play on Oscar Gawith, that will be a good match-up," he said.
The Burras will have a side similar to last week, with their only out being Kade Petering.
He will be replaced by Jack Boschen.
