Three-on-three basketball comp launches this September at The Station
Benbow Basketball Academy brings three-on-three to Horsham.
Fans of the Olympics may have seen three-on-three basketball showcased as on of the Paris games' new sports, and now it is being being brought to Horsham.
Benbow Basketball Academy has partnered with Horsham Rural City Council's Youth Team to launch a monthly three-on-three basketball competition.
"It's fast paced, it's good fun, it's very easy to play," said Benbow Basketball Academy's Scott Benbow.
The first competition will be held from 4:30pm until 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 4, at The Station on Pynsent Street and is free entry for anyone aged between five and 18 years-old.
"You don't need a full court to do it, the space we've got down there, it's made for it," Mr Benbow said.
"It's at 4:30pm on a Wednesday, the kids will finish school, they can throw their bags in the outdoor area and we can just sort of run a competition very quickly.
In partnership with HRCC's Youth Team, Benbow Basketball Academy is eager to show the youth in town that there is that great space to be utilised whenever they want free of charge.
"It's got a beautiful basketball court, they'd just upgraded the joint," Mr Benbow said.
"It's got this amazing outside area that's a safe space for youth."
Benbow Basketball Academy is looking to run an additional five skills sessions and four three-on-three competitions before the end of the year.
