Three local football netball clubs secure club safety funding for 2024
Dimboola, Edenhope Apsley and SMW Rovers are three of the 15 clubs.
Three of the region's football/netball clubs have received funding from AFL Victoria in partnership with WorkSafe.
The Dimboola, Edenhope Apsley and SMW Rovers Football Netball Clubs are three of the 15 WorkSafe club safety fund recipients for 2024.
All Victorian-based country football clubs were eligible to apply for financial assistance to improve their facilities' safety and assist with occupational health and safety initiatives for players, umpires, coaches, volunteers and spectators.
Clubs were required to provide evidence of the need for a grant to improve the safety of their facilities and demonstrate that an occupational health and safety or risk management program is being implemented.
Head of AFL Victoria, Greg Madigan, congratulated all clubs on successfully applying for the grant program.
"Local footy clubs are often the heartbeat of country towns where people come together across regional Victoria, and it's imperative that communities have access to safe and welcoming facilities," Mr Madigan said.
"WorkSafe's long-standing support of country football continues in a big way, with 15 clubs and their communities set to benefit from the latest round of this important funding program, just one of a number of ways WorkSafe gets behind the game."
The next round of funding available through the WorkSafe club safety fund will be available in 2025.
