Fledgling magpies squawking on the ground as their parents teach them to fly? Tick.
In our household, it's changing the bedspread.
For the winter months, we have the 'snuggly' doona. It encourages you to stay in bed for 10 more minutes while it wards off the sternest of July's sub-zero temperatures.
As the weather warms up, we switch to the summer bedding, the thinnest doona I could find.
We switched to summer mode after the mercury pushed beyond 37°C in the Wimmera on the weekend.
I bagged up the doona, and this morning, I dropped off the bedding and went to the dry cleaner.
It turns out I wasn't the only person with this brainwave, as there were doonas on the counter already.
Before I met my partner, I only had one doona, which I used for 12 months of the year. Growing up on the coast, there wasn't much variation in temperature.
The Wimmera has shown me how the weather can go from 45°C and above in the summer to -5°C and beyond in the winter.
So, I welcome the summer bedding and look forward to being told that 45°C "Isn't that hot" in the coming weeks.
