The pressure is now off for Christmas according to Yolande | A Mum's World

Is anyone else frightened that they are going to flunk Christmas this year? Yesterday morning I thought I was a goner; I was seriously worried that I wasn't going to be able to pull it off in 2024.
Then this morning, I woke up with a whole lot of new headspace, feeling much further from failure than before. It's amazing the difference a day can make.
How did I do it? Simple, I ticked a couple of presents off my shopping list.
When rain interrupted harvest a couple of weeks ago, a beautifully wrapped gift appeared under our Christmas tree.
As it wasn't yet the night before Christmas, I certainly didn't suspect my husband of being the culprit. I vaguely assumed that one of the girls was getting organised nice and early.
Finally taking a moment to slow down as I whizzed past the tree, I realised that this gift was in a bag from the local jewellery shop.
What? Red alerts blared in my brain - if my husband had already completed his Christmas shopping, what did that say about my performance in the gift buying arena?
I knew things were bad because I hadn't even started to collect any bits or bobs, but to be behind the man of the house seemed quite unbelievable and certainly a brand new experience that sent me into a mind numbing panic.
What came to my rescue was a lovely little bingo card put together by a couple of dozen local businesses.
After I purchased some flowers for a friend, the florist asked if I was interested in playing bingo by spending ten dollars at one shop in each of the five columns on the card.
So, presented with a fun game - that was also a competition to win gift vouchers -and would take me into shops all over town, I said, "Hello Christmas, here I come".
Suddenly, I was a driven shopper, and it couldn't have been easier. Sports shops, so many options, but a beachy branded T-shirt for my husband had one gift sorted.
Every girl needs a set of new pyjamas now and then, and a beach towel or elegant robe is bound to be a win.
Pressure off, competition entered. Waiting for the winning call.
