Teacups and tiaras: a royal affair at Probus

Dimboola Probus Club came alive on June 1 to honor King Charles III in a somewhat tardy, but charming, celebration of his coronation.
Members gathered dressed in royal attire, creating a festive ambiance.
The highlight of the event was a delightful serving of Devonshire tea, complete with cream, accompanied by a selection of fine teas.
Tiaras were nodding in satisfaction.
Treasurer Bev Collins, sporting a top hat and more than a touch of sparkle, took charge as the host for a King Charles food quiz, focusing on His Majesty's eating habits.
The quiz ended in a tie, revealing the king's preference for after-dinner cheeses warmed to a specific temperature.
Eventually, a winner emerged and was awarded a special prize: a 100-piece jigsaw puzzle featuring Princess Anne.
During the event the newly appointed quarterly Dimboola president, Kneller Lehmann, playfully teased the treasurer about her love for jewellery, jokingly suggesting she may have spent all the club's funds on her dazzling accessories.
Nevertheless, Ms Lehmann expressed gratitude to Bev Collins for organising the quiz and acknowledged the outstanding work of the previous quarter's president, Joy Nelson.
In an unusual turn of events, four presidents will serve the Dimboola Probus Club this year due to a lack of nominations.
One of the club members, Judy Neagle, shared her fascination with the royals, tracing it back to Queen Elizabeth's coronation.
She proudly showcased her extensive collection of royal memorabilia forwarded by a friend during her travels to London.
Ms Neagle fondly recalled a cherished memory of catching a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth during a Ballarat procession on the memorable Royal Australian tour of 1963 – an experience many in the audience could relate to.
She humorously mentioned that she enjoyed her cream puffs only on Royal Doulton china while watching the broadcast of the king's coronation.
The high tea left all the club members in high spirits, having thoroughly enjoyed the gathering.
The Dimboola Probus Club eagerly looks forward to future events that celebrate the royal connection in a more understated yet equally joyful manner.
