Tarzan claimed narrow win
Round 7 of the Horsham Badminton Association’s Winter Teams Competition witnessed domination from the ladder toppers on Monday, June 8, at the Horsham College gymnasium on Baillie Street.
A GRADE
- Gryffindor Vs Hufflepuff
Gryffindor made a great comeback in Round 7.
Paul Patterson of Gryffindor won two doubles sets for his team alongside Amy Barton and Jayden Robertson.
Once, after his team lost the first doubles and second, just before the Hufflepuff were about to claim their fifth set of the match.
Josh Dunn didn’t win any doubles sets, but secured victory in the last singles set of the match.
He defeated Subin Mathews in a decider singles set by 21-12 and 21-14.
Hufflepuff had a great start by winning four out of the first seven doubles sets, but they lost their way by losing the remaining three.
Subin won three doubles sets for them with different teammates.
RESULT: Gryffindor defeated Hufflepuff by 6 sets to 4, 13 games to 9 and 417 to 388 total points.
- Ravenclaw Vs Hogwarts
Ravenclaw claimed a promising victory against Hogwarts.
Ranvenclaw started the match with back-to-back four doubles sets wins.
Luke Dunn, Clayton Duxorth and Lakshdeep Chawla were prominent performers in those wins.
Clayton won all the doubles sets she played throughout the night.
She won alongside Sue Goudie, Lakshdeep and Luke.
Hogwarts were good in the second half of the game, but it was too late for the team.
Ishan Thomas of Hogwarts defeated Luke in a singles set by 21-13 and 21-16.
RESULT: Ravenclaw defeated Hogwarts by 6 sets to 4, 14 games to 9 and 438 to 406 total points.
B GRADE
- Moana Vs Aladdin
Aladdin claimed Round 7 victory by a margin of two sets.
Aden Merrett won two doubles and a single set for his team.
He outclassed Whitney O’Sullivan in two straight games of a singles set by 15-8 and 15-10.
Alan Tomy also won two doubles sets for Aladdin alongside Belinda Amess and Aden.
For Moana, Annabel Nuske won two doubles sets.
RESULT: Aladdin defeated Moana by 6 sets to 4, 16 games to 9 and 340 to 314 total points.
- Rapunzel Vs Tarzan
Tarzan clinched a victory by winning more games after a tie on winning sets.
Rapunzel had a great start with Helen Francisco + Maju and Dani Williams + Khushi winning the first two doubles sets of the match.
Tarzan’s Paige Moore + Jordan Beggs came back with a 15-4 and 15-4 double set win.
Then, after losing the third set, Tarzan just cruised to win four out of the final 5 sets.
Jordan Beggs and Paige Moore claimed two doubles sets each with teammates and made the difference.
Helen beats Harry in a singles set, but her team end up on the losing side, as Tarzan won more games and scored more points.
RESULT: Tarzan defeated Rapunzel by 5 sets to 5, 15 games to 11 and 359 to 319 total points.
