Sunday afternoon concert to help homelessness program
Voices of the Wimmera, Horsham Rural City Band, Steve Thomas Pipe Organ and more will showcase their talents at Horsham Uniting Church's Pleasant Sunday Afternoon Concert this Sunday, November 17.
Organised by Uniting Church's Mission Action Group committee, guests will be surrounded by music, as all proceeds made from the event will go towards Uniting Wimmera's homelessness outreach program.
They will also hear from the Uniting Wimmera's-homelessness team who will do a quick presentation, sharing some information and statistics in relation to youth homelessness in the region.
Committee member Dianne Walter said this will be the third year they have put on this concert.
"We try to include local community projects and not always just ones overseas," she said.
Ms Walter said the group had a 'call toward homelessness' and they regularly meet with Uniting Wimmera's homelessness team leader Belinda Gilpin and outreach worker Glenn Kimberley to discuss their needs and how the group can help.
"We're more than happy to help," she said.
"We meet with them before the concert to discuss the focus and this year it's youth homelessness."
The event begins at 2pm at Horsham Uniting Church located at 10 Pynsent Street, Horsham.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased on the day or prior to the event from the Uniting Church office.
"It's a great afternoon of entertainment," Ms Walter said.
She said the concert will be casual with a set program filled with performances for a few hours.
Donations towards the homelessness outreach program will also be accepted on the day.
