Students lead town march at Anzac Day service

Jeparit Primary School students played a big part in the 11am service on Anzac Day.
Some students read poems after the entire student body led the march from the Memorial Hall to the World War I memorial, where they then placed wooden crosses.
Guest speaker Craige Proctor gave an informative address, including Jeparit’s reaction to the outbreak of war in August 1914.

The crowd learned that four local men had enlisted within a month, and the school ran a drive to raise money to support the men's families.
A local branch of Red Cross was formed and a Grand Patriotic concert was held.
Thirty-five people attended the dawn service and more than twice as many were at the later service.
