Stay safe this Easter
The TAC urges all travellers on Victorian roads during the Easter school holidays to rest, take breaks, and drive safely.
The TAC and VICSES are partnering to deliver the Easter Driver Reviver and TAC Pause Stop programs.
Locations include Dimboola (Lochiel), Green Lake, Bordertown, Stawell, Donald, St Arnaud, Beaufort, Coleraine and Dunkeld.
The partnership will also support Victorian football fans travelling to and from the AFL Gather Round in South Australia.
A rest stop will be available at Dimboola on Sunday, April 12, to assist drivers returning via the Western Highway.
These initiatives help keep travellers safe during long weekend road trips and remind motorists of the risks of driving while tired.
These programs aim to reduce fatigue-related road trauma, which rises during peak holiday periods like Easter and school holidays, when traffic is heavier, and trips are longer.
Research shows that drivers with less than five hours of sleep are four times more likely to crash.
As the Easter school holidays begin, 60 people have already lost their lives on Victorian roads this year.
