Spreading good cheer
Free to Read: Santa will be checking in on more children in Warracknabeal this Sunday night - and he'll be sure to bring his dancing shoes so he can bust a move when he drops into the town Christmas Festival.
Hosted by Warracknabeal Action Group (WAG), the festival is an annual event with a focus on being family-friendly and spreading the cheer of Christmas.
The event will be held at the Warracknabeal Race Course from 5pm.
Incorporating Carols by Candlelight, there will be performances on stage, activities for the kids and cold and hot drinks and food available, including for those who are gluten intolerant.
"We have lots of activities for the kids, and this year we are catering for a broader age group," Kathryn Wilken-Jackson, WAG vice president and chairperson of the festival, said.
"We have a petting zoo, Balloon Bruce, a booth for colouring and Beau from Level Up Gaming, among other activities."
WAG has hosted the Christmas Festival for at least five years, and Ms Wilken-Jackson encouraged the community to support the event this year.
"It is such a family friendly event," she said. "It is affordable for people, and fun, and it will consist of several hours of entertainment for everyone.
"Bring your family down or grab a group of friends and enjoy a fantastic night. The weather is meant to be nice so we think it will be a beautiful evening."
Gates will open at 5pm and entry is $2 per person, with children under five free. Activities will be on offer from 5pm until about 7pm, with music on stage from 6pm.
Organisers are hoping from 7pm children will then join their families to enjoy the formal Carols by Candlelight, supported by the Warracknabeal Band.
Attendees should bring blankets, chairs and mosquito/bug repellent. There is no BYO alcohol.
