Southern Roos make it six straight wins
Harrow Balmoral have continued their fine form in the lead-up to finals, defeating the Swifts on Saturday in round 17 of the Horsham District Football Netball League.
Playing at Harrow, the Southern Roos kicked 14.13 (97) to the Swifts' 7.10 (52).
The home side quickly assumed a stronghold on the game, kicking the first five goals before holding a 33-10 lead at quarter time.
Despite a concerted defensive effort from the Swifts, the Southern Roos did not relinquish control of the game, limiting the Swifts on the offensive end, securing a 56-17 lead at halftime, and extending it to 82-31 at the final break.
A determined Swifts side got the better of Harrow Balmoral in the final quarter, but they were unable to trouble the reigning premiers, who prevailed by 45.
For the victors, William Plush and Will Burbury were two of the best, while Liam Scott and Chris Freeman impressed for the Swifts.
Anthony Close led the Southern Roos with three goals, while Jordan Motton kicked two for the Swifts.
With the loss, the Swifts need to defeat Pimpinio and rely on other results in round 18 if they are to make the top five.
