Horsham hairdressing salon Shine has been named Victoria's top hairdresser at L'Oreal's Salon Business Awards.

The L'Oreal Professionnel Pro.Connect 2024 salon business competition were searching for Australia and New Zealand's most outstanding salons, accessing business growth, social media, google rating and reviews, and sustainability, with Shine coming out the best for Victoria.

Shine Hairdressing's salon director Katrina Heard said the team's statewide recognition is huge for the regional business.

"We are still in shock," she said.

Ms Heard believes it is the way Shine prioritises its clients, and provides a relaxed, modern and welcoming space that see's the salon standout.

"I believe the key to ongoing success in the salon is being willing to evolve, know your numbers to increase your profit margins, delegation and create systems to make life easier," she said.

"Most importantly, know who you are as a salon and what your target market and salon beliefs are."

While developing her salon, Ms Heard had been advised to pick a specialty to market her business towards, but felt limiting what Shine offered wasn't the right move.

"At Shine we believe everyone deserves to look and feel beautiful," Ms Heard said.

Having run the business for over four decades, Ms Heard said the businesses adaptation to new technology has reignited her passion.

"I've recently worked on my mindset to overcome limiting beliefs," she said.

"I'm proud of our new website and social media presence and the positive impact they have had on Shine."
