SES volunteers mark milestones
Members of the Warracknabeal State Emergency Service (SES) unit, along with their partners, came together for a celebratory meal to honour seven dedicated volunteers for their years of service on Wednesday September 18.
The event recognised significant milestones in their voluntary work with the local SES unit.
Collectively, the seven members have responded to 1589 requests for assistance during their involvement with SES and contributed a remarkable 128 years of combined service.
This impressive commitment underscores the strength and dedication of the Warracknabeal unit, especially given the small size of the community.
Andrew Richards received a five-year pin and Jennifer Henshall received a 10-year medal.
Valarie Taylor was awarded a 15-year clasp as well as a national service medal.
Glenyce Liersch received a 15-year clasp, Noel Taylor received 20-year clasp and John Bish received a 25-year clasp.
Geoff Pickering received a 25-year clasp but was unable to attend the function.
The unit will present his award at a later date.
As a former paramedic, Mr Pickering has a combined 45 years of service in emergency management and has contributed greatly to the Wimmera region and beyond.
The awards were presented by Warracknabeal unit controller Michael Evans and Jordan Bush, operations officer for emergency management in the Western Region - Wimmera.
The Warracknabeal SES unit is always looking for new members.
