A CROWD of around 300 people browsed the variety of health and wellbeing stalls on offer at a University of the Third Age (U3A)-hosted Horsham and District Community Groups Expo last week.
The success of a previous expo spurred organisers on to host it again this year, with Horsham U3A president June Liddy commenting that they were "absolutely thrilled" with the attendance.
"We handed out feedback forms after the last expo and believe we addressed everything on the forms this year to improve the event," Mrs Liddy said.
"We believe the 50-plus age group need to be passionate about looking after their health and exercise."
Opened by Horsham Rural City Council Mayor Robyn Gulline, attendees browsed 59 exhibitor displays ranging from music to caravanning, men's shed to gardening clubs, health information to support groups, service clubs to volunteering, sporting clubs and education.
Performances by The Silver Strings ukelele group and Horsham Pipe Band added to the festive feel of the day, with Mrs Liddy commenting that the U3A received positive feedback.
"Our committee is small but they were amazing in organising the expo.
"We hope this will become an annual event, and would love to see other community groups interested in alternating the planning and hosting of the expo."
