Search warrant for guns and explosives at Beulah
Police and Worksafe executed a ‘search warrant’ for a search for firearms and explosives at a Beulah address in early February.
During the search, police allegedly found a large number of unregistered firearms and gun components and a quantity of gun powder on Thursday February 1.
Police seized around 30 firearms and interviewed a 73 year old Beulah man, suspending his firearms licence immediately.
The man appeared in the Hopetoun Magistrates Court on Thursday over multiple firearm offences.
Beulah Police Leading Senior Constable Shayne Riggall said, “police are pleased to take a large number of firearms out of circulation in the Beulah township.”
Police were observed at the Bell St, Beulah address for some hours.
The man was interviewed at the scene for some time and was charged on summons for numerous firearm offences.
It is understood there were a large number and a variety of firearms seized including rifles, shotguns and numerous gun parts.
Raymond Murphy 73, appeared in the Hopetoun Magistrates Court last Thursday, where he requested an adjournment of the case, before magistrate, His Honour Constantinos Kilias.
The defendant asked for the adjournment to obtain a copy of many hours of police recordings from the raid.
The hearing was adjourned and set for the Hopetoun Magistrates Court for February 20, next year.
