Scene set for epic Dimboola and Minyip Murtoa clash
The stage couldn't be better set as Dimboola (fifth) come up against Minyip Murtoa (fourth) in round 10 of the Wimmera Football Netball League on Saturday.
As mentioned previously, there is a bit of a jam in points from positions four to seven, with the Burras, Dimboola, Saints and Thunder on 16 points and separated only by percentage.
But this Saturday, either Dimboola and Minyip Murtoa have the chance to move ahead of the losing side and,depending on other results, possibly move ahead of the pack.
Last time the sides met was in round one and the Burras claimed the win by 41 points, 17.9 (111) to 10.10 (70).
But if the ladder has taught us anything this season, past results mean nothing, as any side can win on any given day.
"It's great for the competition, and it's great for us, Dimboola, to be competitive and in the mix," co-coach of Dimboola, Andrew Moore, said.
"It's impressive, coming from a disappointing year last season, but it's exciting each week and it doesn't mean you can't put your foot off the pedal.
"Each week it is important you put your best foot forward and you stay hungry and motivated to get a good result."
Moore said it was games like this Saturday's that were a great test for the side.
"It's a great opportunity to see where we are, and how we are going," he said.
"We are right in the middle of the year and it's a great way to see what we are doing well at and where we can grow and improve.
"Minyip got us done, round one, by a fair few goals in the end and so it's going to be a challenge; they are a quality outfit and we know that.
"And they've got a good mix of not only that inside but that outside balance so we will have to nulify a bit more of their outside work and they've got some guys, performers who are strong up forward, but also the likes of Tanner Smith down in that half back, who is a great player.
"He's one we will have to make sure we limit his impact on the game too,
"But like each week, we are up for the challenge, up for the fight and it's an exciting opportunity and one I am looking forward to."
