EDENHOPE Apsley is celebrating back-to-back Horsham District netball A Grade premierships after claiming Saturday’s grand final.
The Saints won the season decider over Laharum, 53-43 to rubber-stamp a dominant season which saw them claim back-to-back titles and finish as premier and champions through an unbeaten season.
The A Grade match topped off a big day of netball action which saw all grades decided and an even share of premierships throughout four clubs.
As well as its A Grade title, Edenhope Apsley enjoyed success in the C Reserve, while Kalkee claimed two titles throughout the day in the B Grade and 15 & Under.
Pimpinio showed its strength in junior netball when they took out premierships in 17 and 13 Under, while finishing runners up in 15 and Under and also in C Grade.
Noradjuha Quantong dominated a C Grade clash while Kalkee produced the closest margin of the day in their B Grade clash, winning 26-25.
Edenhope Apsley’s win was built on the back of a strong first half as they opened up a 10 goal lead at the main break before answering all challenges from the Demons in the second half.
The Saints led 13-11 at quarter time before pulling away in the second term when they shot 16 goals to eight and lead 29-19 at half time.
Laharum cut the margin to seven goals at three quarter time, 38-31, before the Saints took back their 10-goal advantage in the final term when they scored 15 goals to 12.
The Saints had winners across most lines including defender Shannon Freeman who won a best on court medal in a strong performance that saw her team well with midcourt team-mates to set up scoring chances.
Hayley Campbell was in the thick of the action and found the safe hands of shooter Sacha McDonald who finished with a game-high 37 goals, teaming well with fellow shooter Lavinia Fox who finished with 16 goals.
For the Demons, shooter Caitlin Story produced a strong performance under the ring to finish with 27 goals, teaming well with fellow shooter Maddie Iredell with 16 goals, while co-coach Olivia Jones topped a strong season at the helm.
