DIMBOOLA netballers have maintained their positions in the top five in five of the six grades after a tense day on the court at Davis Park against Nhill.
Both the A and B Grade teams suffered narrow losses in battles for fourth place, while C Grade claimed a strong win and maintained its fifth placing on the ladder.
Junior netball saw the 17 & Under team in dominant form to maintain their fourth placing on the ladder, while the 15 & Under team claimed its second win of the season with a strong performance.
Starting the match a game clear of Nhill, the Roos A Grade were desperate to put a two-game break on the Tigers and started well to open up a seven-goal lead at quarter time and maintained a three-goal lead at half time, 22-19.
But the Tigers gradually wore down the advantage to level scores at three quarter time before a frantic final term saw the Tigers pull away to claim a four-goal win at the final whistle, 46-42.
Holly Ross and Billie Barber teamed well for the Roos.
A tense battle took place in the B Grade clash with nothing separating the teams at three quarter time as the Roos came from two goals down at half time to level scores at 22 goals each at the last break.
But like the A Grade, the Tigers were able to pull away in the final term and claim a four-goal win, 33-29 with Olivia Lehmann and Kayla Kalms teaming well for the Roos.
With a strong scoring second half of the game, Dimboola’s C Grade powered away from the Tigers to claim a 10-goal win, 36-26.
Leading by three goals at half time, the Roos stepped up their play in the third term to open up a nine-goal lead at three quarter time before finishing strongly through the work of Nellie Redford and Tasharna Petschel.
Dimboola 17 & Under girls dominated from the opening whistle through the work of Alyssa Petschel and Katie Griffiths who controlled play to set up scoring chances.
An even display in each quarter saw the Roos extend their lead at each break before finishing strongly to claim a 50-14 goal victory.
In the 15 & Under clash, Dimboola dominated early against the bottom-placed Tigers and continued their surge through the match to run out commanding 38-17 goal victors with Victoria Ward and Emma Glover leading the charge.
