Dimboola suffered their fifth loss in a row against premiership favourites Ararat at Dimboola Recreation Reserve on Saturday in the final round of the Wimmera Football Netball League.
The Roos were missing a few players through injury and with a finals spot sewn up rested a couple more.
The Rats were all over the Roos early opening with three behinds before Tom Mills kicked the first of what would be his five goals. They then kicked the next three goals of the match until Hayden Walters kicked truly from the boundary to secure the Roos first goal to trail by 21 points at quarter time.
The Rats were relentless in the second quarter kicking three early goals through Tex Korewha, Matthew Spalding and Tom Williamson and then when Williamson added his 2nd at the 10 minute mark, the lead was suddenly 46 points.
Tom Mills then added another two goals to bring the lead to 59 points before the Roos registered their second late in the quarter through Landt to reduce the margin to 53 points at half time.
The third quarter followed a similar script to the second with the Rats kicking another six goals to lead by 78 points at three quarter time with the Roos only goals that quarter coming from Hayden Walters and Jonathan Ross.
In the fourth quarter Patrick Lindsey and Billy Hayes hit the scoreboard for the Roos whilst the Rats had plenty of chances in front of goal, kicking six behinds to go along with their two goals to win 18.19.127 to 6.7.43.
For the Rats, Tom Mills and Tex Korewha led the way with five goals a-piece with the former named best on ground.
For the Roos, Matthew Rosier and Ben Miller were strong throughout the game with Jack Landt leading from the front.
The final round of the season saw matches go to plan with all favourites claiming victories to shore up places before this weekend’s finals series.
Horsham Saints and Southern Mallee Giants both returned to the winners list after the Saints outlasted a dogged Nhill to claim a 29-point victory at Coughlin Park, while the Giants powered away from Horsham in the final quarter when they added 10 goals to one to take out a commanding 115-point victory at Hopetoun.
Minyip-Murtoa finished its season on a winning note when they claimed an 11-point victory over Warrack Eagles in a scrappy contest at Murtoa.
