DIMBOOLA A Grade netballers have kept their Wimmera netball finals campaign alive and well after a strong performance on Sunday.
The Roos claimed an impressive over Stawell in the first semi-final to set up a preliminary final showdown with Horsham this weekend.
With two grades still contesting Sunday’s finals, the 17 & Under team was eliminated from the finals race when they went down to Warrack Eagles.
A big second half was the catalyst behind the Roos upset A Grade win, skipping away from the Warriors after half time when scores were level.
Stawell grabbed a four-goal lead at quarter time, 17-13, before the Roos had scores locked together at 25 each at the main break.
The third quarter was where the Roos made their move with a dominant period of the match adding 21 goals for the quarter and restricting the Warriors to 13 and enjoy an eight-goal lead at three quarter time, 46-38.
Some strong movement of the ball from defence and the midcourt had the Roos in a strong position, teaming well with shooter Olivia Jorgensen who was dominant under the ring.
The final quarter saw the Roos answer all challenges from the Warriors and slightly extend their lead to nine goals by the final whistle as Jorgensen maintained her shooting accuracy to finish with 52 goals in the 60-51 victory.
Dimboola was strong throughout the court with Holy Ross setting up play from defence, teaming well with Hannah Dubois and Ashlee Morrish through the midcourt and ultimately in the hands of Jorgensen.
The 17 & Under girls found the Warrack Eagles a strong outfit as they dominated the contest to claim a 67-28 goal victory.
Dimboola worked hard early and trailed by four goals at quarter time before the Eagles swept away in the second term to add 17 goals to five.
Another 19 goals to eight in the third term was followed by 17 to five in the final term as the Roos maintained the pressure but were unable to maintain their form of the week before.
Sally Sellens and Katie Griffiths teamed well through the midcourt at respective wing attack and wing defence positions to set up scoring chances where Tarah Bond finished with 18 goals.
