Roll up for free tickets to the show
A few hours' work could earn free entry to Horsham Show for enterprising helpers and their families.
Horsham Show organisers are offering incentives to attract volunteers to share their time and skills for this year's show.
Newly appointed show secretary Fiona Tracey is offering packages of two adult and four child tickets free to people who volunteer for at least four hours.
A range of jobs and dates is listed on the Horsham Show website and on Facebook under "Volunteering" for this year's show, which will comprise a Saturday twilight session on September 28 and a full day on Sunday September 29.
"People who can't physically put in four hours might like to bake at home and provide food for the volunteers," Ms Tracey said.
She said a Sunday session for exhibitors, volunteers and stewards had proved successful and attracted about 25 people of all ages, including an enthusiastic five-year-old exhibitor.
"We had three generations of one family attend, and another with two," she said.
Topics included volunteering opportunities, new incentives, and the roles of stewards and judges.
Ms Tracey is originally from Melbourne and moved to the Wimmera in 2020. She said she was intrigued by Horsham's Maydale Pavilion, which eventually led her to apply for her current role.
Former show secretary Andrea Cross, now Horsham Show Society's executive officer, continues in her role as venue manager.
