Resilience forum today
Local representatives from not-for-profit organisations in the Wimmera are invited to attend a seminar to determine how the region can use up to $900,000 in funding to strengthen drought resilience.
As a part of the Future Drought Fund's Communities Community Impact Program, the focus is on people and ways communities can come together to support each other through drought.
An event will be held at Horsham Neighbourhood House on Friday, March 13, from 10am to 2pm.
Kate Nolan, Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal Program Manager for the Future Drought Fund Communities Program, said it’s vital to involve a broad range of voices in the planning process.
“Communities tell us they want to be proactive, not just respond when drought hits," Ms Nolan said.
"This program supports that by helping build strong networks, share knowledge and improve local infrastructure in ways that make sense locally.
"Our goal is to ensure people are better connected, informed and equipped, so they have the resources and capacity to draw on when dry times come."
