One of western Victoria's favourite fundraisers is returning after a four-year break.
Relay for Life, arguably the biggest charity event in regional Australia, will be held again in Horsham next March - and Cancer Council Victoria is encouraging locals to sign up now.
The last full event in Horsham took place in 2019 before an online virtual relay was organised during Covid in 2021.
Relay For Life empowers communities to "unite to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back against cancer".
During the biannual event, teams complete laps around a track or oval to signify that every day Australia is making strides towards creating a cancer-free future.
An average of 142 people are diagnosed with cancer in Horsham every year.
Relay For Life raises funds for Cancer Council’s cancer research, prevention, information and support services.
More than 134,000 people participate in Relay For Life events nationally, raising about $14 million each year.
Community members can be part of the campaign by becoming a team leader or joining a team, becoming a member of the local Relay For Life committee or volunteering at the Horsham Relay For Life event.
Horsham's Relay For Life will be held at Coughlin Park from 6pm on Friday March 17 until 10am on Saturday March 18 and will have a St Patrick’s Day theme.
