The third-placed Bombers are ready to bounce back from their round eight loss as they host Rupanyup in round nine of the HDFNL this Saturday, June 13.

The Bombers were usurped at the top of the ladder after they were defeated by Pimpinio 104-73 in round eight.

Despite losing three players early in the game against the Tigers, Bombers coach Damian Cameron didn’t offer excuses, believing the side let themselves down with their first-half performance.

“It was a bit tough because we went in with about seven out, and to have three go down early wasn’t ideal,” he said.

“I thought we did well in the third quarter, but we ran out of steam.

“We put ourselves in a rough spot in the first half by not playing the best footy, and we just couldn’t draw it back.

Despite plenty of question marks surrounding the side injury list ahead of Saturday, including assistant coach Dylan Shelley, the Bombers coach expects the team to get back on track against a lively Rupanyup side.

“I'd like to see the response from the group,” Cameron said.

“Our first half against Pimp was not where we want to be as a team, so for us, we just really need to bounce back and start playing the right type of footy again.

“Every game is a dangerous game at the moment if we're not gonna put our best foot forward.

“With our injuries, I don't even know what the team will look like; who's got to be available and who's unavailable, but we'll put our best side out there and get back to the things we need to.

With consideration of their circumstances, Cameron is pleased with the side’s 6-2 start, hoping improved fitness and consistency will elevate the team as the season progresses.

“Apart from our last game, pretty happy with how things have gone,” he said.

“We’re probably a little bit inconsistent, which is the frustrating part, but it does make it harder with the changing sides every week and missing up to seven senior players.

“We just really need to get some guys back from injury now and get some consistency, especially after the bye, where we play Kaniva, which is huge for us.

“This week first, we want to capture some form, and we can't afford to lose any more games.”
