Recognition for hardworking volunteer
After a mammoth 20 years in the position of area manager for the Good Friday Appeal, local volunteer Adrian Bennett has been commended for his work.
Mr Bennett is the current secretary of the CFA in Rainbow and said he inherited the position with the Good Friday Appeal when he took on that role.
In his position, Mr Bennett coordinates the volunteers and does plenty of paperwork: he's the man looking after the logistics behind the scenes.
The Good Friday Appeal is a charity raising funds to traditionally enable The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne to provide the highest level of care for children.
More recently, the funds have been disbursed outside of the city, with donations used to support health pediatric regional services - like with Grampians Health.
Earlier this year Rainbow raised $9136 for the Good Friday Appeal.
Mr Bennett said the appeal was all about giving to the kids, and he had found over the years, the community had been extremely supportive.
"Without community support locally, as well as the support I receive from the brigade's members, we can't do it," he said.
"They deserve as much credit as what I have been given by them."
"It's not a one-person job, so I recognise those people who have helped me over the years," Mr Bennett said.
