Rams welcome premier test
Natimuk United’s senior football side will hope to draw on lessons from their early-season results when they meet Harrow Balmoral in round five of the Horsham District Football Netball League this Saturday, May 9.
The Rams enter the matchup with two wins and two losses, and are coming off a 69-49 win over the Swifts.
Even in their two losses to Kaniva Leeor and Noradjuha Quantong, Natimuk challenged the 2025 finals teams all the way.
Coach Jarred Combe is pleased with the progression his side has shown this season, believing the losses to the Cougars and the Bombers have prepared them for their game against the reigning premiers.
“We’ve definitely shown significant improvement to start the season,” he said.
“We were competitive against Kaniva and Noradjuha Quantong, and Harrow Balmoral presents another quality opposition.
“We’ve taken positive feedback from both losses, using those games to identify areas we need to improve if we’re going to play sustainable football against the top teams.
“We’re looking forward to testing ourselves again this week.”
Conversely, the Southern Roos will relish the home game at Balmoral Reserve and will likely be refreshed after their round four bye.
But the Rams will go into Saturday with fond memories of their previous game against Harrow Balmoral, who they upset 60-56 in round 10 last year.
Combined with their improved start to the season, the visitors will be optimistic about their chances.
